Question Green Items

I have been playing Guild Wars for a considerable time. I have found an adequate amount of gold items and purple weapons but have never found any green items. I play PVE..I have not played PVP.... I completed the original Guild Wars then added Nightfall, Eye of the North and Factions. I would like to believe this is due to bad luck but I think in this time at least one item would have dropped. Any Ideas???...Many Thanks

Must be bad luck. Even before farming, I would have greens drop every so often. Once I got into solo farming, I would target bosses and farm them like crazy. I remember farming 10 Nightbringers in one day and selling them for 15k each within 24 hours. Now, I get greens as random drops all the time and I just give them away because its not worth the effort to try and sell them for the measily 2k they are worth.

The only green I ever got while playing normally was Dwayna's Grace :P

I found it capping the skill back when it was like... 40k

A few things that may have relevance to your situation :

1) Greens only drop from bosses (with a very few exceptions, like Totem Axes). Assuming you already knew this, but just in case... Anyway, targeting those bosses repeatedly will increase your chances of getting those green drops.

2) Not all bosses in Prophecies drop green items. Unlike the later campaigns / expansions, Prophecies kind of short-changes players in this regard. Kepkhet in the desert, the bosses in Grenth's Footprint and Sorrow's Furnace, and one or two scattered elsewhere are the only green drops available in Prophecies. If you're in Prophecies and not farming those bosses specifically, your chance of getting a green drop is going to be zero.

3) Not sure how you usually go out to PvE, whether you group with other human players or you hero / hench it with a full party of 8 (or whatever max size is per each area), but the fewer henchmen and heroes you take with you, the more likely you are to see that green drop. This is why 99% of farming builds are solo builds. If something does drop - it's yours.

Advice : Utilize sites like GuildWiki, Guru, and YouTube. If you want a specific green drop, use Wiki to find out which boss has it, what skills it uses, what weaknesses it has, etc. Develop a build (or use an already-developed build, which you can easily find on YouTube) to specifically target that boss, and kill him over and over again - with as few henchmen / heroes as possible.

If this is all basic knowledge to you, understand that no offense is intended in my posting it. It may all simply boil down to bad luck if you're actively farming the right bosses and still not getting the drops. There are several bosses that I have farmed in the past that have had such horrible drop rates (or time : money ratios) for me that I all but gave up on the farm completey (Sskai, Vanahk, and Skybringer being a few). Some bosses simply won't like you.

If you asked me how lucky I was with getting green drops around June of last year, I'd tell you about every three days from killing around 10 bosses would eventually produce a green drop for me.

As of October 1st, 2007... I barely get one a month.

Yes, if you finished Hells Precipice before, you can do it again and get the new reward to exchange for a green weapon.

I rarely get any green drops apart from when I farm them, and even then they are usually from the crappest boss in the area (during vanq's usually)... otherwise I often get em from eotn dungeons when I bother with them

In three years of playing I've only had 3 green drops. 1 was during a nightfall mission during the extra green drop rate weekend, and the other two have both been while playing EOTN. Seriously, it seems like if you want greens EOTN is the way to go (although that ones that have dropped for me aren't the ones that anyone wants to buy. )

There is a way to increase your chances of getting a green using heroes & henchies. Go out with your usual party and when you get to the mob with the boss, kill everything but save the boss for last. Before the boss dies, flag all your h&h off the compass (using the "U" mini-map usually). Once they are off your radar (they are greyed out in the Party box), you can kill the boss and anything he drops will be yours.

The timing on this varies a lot depending upon what boss it is, what class your playing, whether or not you can kill the boss on your own, etc. Sometimes you will flag the H&H early, sometimes you should wait until the boss is nearly dead. An MM is a good thing to bring, as the minions will keep attacking the boss even after the H&H are flagged - but you sometimes need to limit the number of minions so they won't kill the boss too soon.
